Due to the expiration of Samsung certificates, we are required to release an update of our Instrumentor tool on Monday, 3 November 2025. Normally, this update has no impact on our customers, however, it appears that Samsung has made some changes to their certificates. As a result, after this update, you may not be able to install apps on some of the Samsung Tizen devices (with Samsung Tizen 4.0 or older) unless you perform the actions described below.
Before using any of the Samsung tools, please make sure that SuitestDrive (where your Samsung Tizen device is added) is turned off.
  1. Open "Tizen Package Manager" tool and install any update if available. Check mainly "Samsung Certificate Extension" (version 2.0.74 or newer if available) due to this update.
  2. Open "Tizen Certificate Manager" and create a new "Certificate Profile" ("Samsung" type + "Partner" privilege).
  3. Open "Tizen Device Manager", connect to your Samsung Tizen device and right click on it and click on the "Permit to install applications". image Once it is done, disconnect from the device. image
  4. You may start your SuitestDrive again and auto-instrumentation/Suitestify should work as usual.
If you use Ottium and the app installation starts failing after this, please re-sign your app package with a newly created "Certificate Profile" and re-upload the package to Suitest.
We have just released
Ottium for testing Android applications
!
This means there's no need to instrument your Android apps anymore when testing on Android TV or mobile devices.
To get started:
  1. Make sure your SuitestDrive controlling the Android device is up-to-date.
  2. Select Ottium as the communication method in your app configuration.
  3. Re-upload your app package.
  4. Re-add your elements.
Note: Since Ottium uses standard Android platform tools, there are a couple of limitations compared to our Instrumentation library, e.g.:
  • The mouse selection tool isn’t available.
  • Video properties cannot be retrieved.
  • Fewer element properties can be retrieved.
Happy testing!
Ottium is the new Lite
Since launching in 2020 for Roku, our
Lite
method has become one of the most widely adopted ways to test OTT apps with Suitest.
But
Lite
doesn’t do this powerful method justice, so we’ve given it a name to match:
Ottium
.
Ottium is our non-intrusive, object-based testing method. It works out of the box on real devices, no instrumentation required, and
includes visual validation
when needed.
Therefore, if you’ve been using Lite, you’ve been using Ottium.
Ottium
is already available on most OTT platforms supported by Suitest (and we're working on the rest). It
does not require any instrumentation
, as it leverages standard tools provided by device manufacturers and platform providers.
Test with Ottium
already on
:
  • Android
  • LG webOS
  • Roku
  • Samsung Tizen
  • Sky
  • VIDAA
  • Vizio
  • Xbox
  • Xfinity
  • Xumo
Stay tuned, more platforms coming soon!
We've been asked about the specific model years and OS versions running on the devices in our Public Device Lab––so we've just added that information there!
In the device list, simply type what you're looking for:

Introducing the new Lite communication method for Xbox WebView2 applications!
With this update, there’s no longer a need to insert the Instrumentation Library into your apps to test them on Xbox consoles.
To use Xbox Lite, you need to enable DevTools inside your app. If you were previously using the Instrumentation Library, be sure to remove it.
When you're ready, make sure to:
  • Switch your app configuration to Lite
  • Bulk copy element properties from "Xbox" to "Xbox Lite" platform
We have just released Lite for testing of Vizio applications!
This means there's no need to instrument your Vizio applications anymore to test them on your Vizio TVs.
To use Vizio Lite, you need to
have DevTools enabled on your device
.
If you are already using our automated instrumentation library injection:
If you are using Suitest JavaScript API, please update to the newest version.
Benefits of Lite:
  • Asserting on 3rd party cookies
  • Asserting on Shadow DOM and pseudo elements
  • Asserting on network requests to IP addresses, and local files

Let’s celebrate a new chapter in testing with Suitest! Not only can you automate testing of your apps based on data, but you can
now
also
automate visual testing
.
We’re excited to introduce:
  • OCR
    - read text displayed on the testing device screen
  • Image template matching
    - checking reference images against the testing device screen
How can you get started? All you need is a video capture device assigned to your testing device in Suitest.
Please keep in mind that these features work seamlessly with WingBox and screenshots over the network. If you use a USB camera or Suitest Camera app, make sure the video capture device is centered in front of the TV and avoid reflections on the testing device screen.
Suitest now also supports
Raspberry Pi 5
devices as control units.
In order to set it up, just make sure that you have the right 27W USB-C charger and Micro HDMI cable. The rest of the configuration process is the same as for other models. See more information.
We are pleased to inform you that Suitest now supports Sky and Xumo devices. More information:
We have extended our support for NextGen TVs with ATSC 3.0. You just need an ATSC 3.0 app hosted on a URL and a compatible device to test it. For more information, refer to our user documentation:
